About / Apex Shaolin

Originally started in 2006 by Joe Luong and Master Shi Yan Zhao, in its short history Apex Shaolin has grown from its humble beginnings of training Shaolin Kung Fu in public parks and odd hours at rental spaces into a world renowned training facility for Chinese Martial Arts. In addition to our students travelling abroad for training, our school has attracted people from all around the world, granting our students unique cultural exchanges and opportunities to make new friends.

Like the Shaolin Temple itself our martial arts program has expanded to include world class instruction in Modern Competitive Wushu and Sanshou/Sanda combat training. Our instructors are professional martial artists with extensive full-time training, achieving national champion status in their home countries and success as instructors here in Canada.

Our Demo Team has grown to become globally recognized, putting on martial arts performances such as our 3-year run with the Lantern Festival at Ontario Place. With extensive stage experience, our Demo Team specializes in martial arts entertainment including Drumming and Lion Dancing. Today, we continue to strive for the best in quality training and instruction. We are known for our dedication to the art, placing the development of our students and school as the top priority. Our philosophy is to keep pushing forward, because we know we can continue to improve and do better tomorrow!
